This year a panel of 13 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) judges, will judge a mix of commercial agave-based spirits or other spirit produced in Mexico. Product samples are presented in flights in a blind competition and evaluate based on criteria consistent with the evaluation standards of the IWSC. Judges base scores on Aroma, Finish, Flavor, Value, Probability of Re-Purchasing and Probability of Recommendation, awarding a maximum of 100 points.
This year the judges will be using technology developed by the Tequila Matchmaker mobile app, for the scoring and tabulation of the results.
Based-upon the combined scores from all of the judges, should one spirit achieve the highest overall score, a “Best of Class” will be awarded. Should one spirit per category achieve the highest score, a “Best of Class” per category will be awarded.
Launched in 2002, the Spirits of Mexico Competition is the premier spirits competition in North America for agave-based and other spirits produced in Mexico. The competition is organized by the IWSC Group, a globally-recognized events company focused exclusively on the alcoholic beverage sector.
