Inspired by a shared appreciation for the culture and culinary traditions of Mexico, Kristen Benoit and her husband Michael opened Bone Garden Cantina in 2008. Agave spirits, and the people who dedicate their lives to the craft, hold a special place in Kristen’s heart. She has traveled many times to distilleries in Jalisco and palenques in the mountains of Oaxaca in order to gain first-hand knowledge on all aspects of agave spirit production. In 2014, she completed Mexico’s Master Mezcalier training program in Oaxaca. This experience required her to participate in each step of mezcal production, from the fields to the bottles. Bone Garden Cantina has become an Atlanta destination for people who love agave spirits, and was recently named one of the top 50 tequila bars in the country by USA Today. Kristen offers in-depth trainings, educational opportunities and tasting events to her guests and staff, while continuing to curate Bone Garden’s exceptional selection of agave spirits.
